Orthonymy

Orthonyxis is a podiatric technique used to treat ingrown toenails and other nail deformities. It involves placing a device, often called a ‘staple’ or ‘clip’, on the nail to correct its curvature and guide its growth so that it does not penetrate the surrounding skin.

This method is non-invasive and aims to relieve pain, prevent inflammation and correct the shape of the nail over the long term. Orthonyxis is often used when simpler methods, such as trimming the nails properly, are not enough to solve the problem. In the case of an ingrown toenail, orthonyxis improves healing and reduces the risk of recurrence.
