ALL ABOUT the clinic

What does a chiropodist do?

A chiropodist is a foot care specialist. He treats skin disorders (corns, calluses), nail disorders (ingrown toenails, fungal infections) and offers orthopaedic solutions such as orthopaedic insoles to correct walking imbalances.

What is the difference between a chiropodist and a pedicurist?

In fact, it's a single profession with two areas of activity: chiropodists are trained to treat both skin and nail care (pedicurists) and biomechanical foot problems requiring orthopaedic insoles (podiatrists).

What does a chiropodist treat?

A chiropodist treats foot problems such as corns, calluses, fungal infections, plantar warts and ingrown toenails, and offers orthopaedic insoles to correct walking disorders.

Why see a chiropodist?

You should consult a chiropodist to prevent or treat foot pain, correct walking problems or treat skin or nail disorders. Early treatment improves your comfort and prevents complications.

When should I see a chiropodist?

Consult a chiropodist if you have foot pain, ingrown toenails, fungal infections or deformed/damaged toenails, or for a walking assessment, particularly in the case of joint pain or posture problems. You can consult your doctor for no particular reason, simply for a foot treatment or a chiropody check-up before starting or resuming sport, for example.

Do I need a prescription to see a chiropodist?

It is not generally necessary to have a prescription to consult a chiropodist, except for certain specific treatments such as care for diabetic patients.

How much does a chiropodist / service cost?

A chiropodist's fees vary depending on the treatment offered. Routine treatment such as ingrown toenails or orthopaedic insoles are charged in accordance with local agreements.

Should I cut my nails before an appointment?

It is recommended not to cut your nails before an appointment. The chiropodist will cut them according to specific rules to avoid problems such as ingrown toenails.

Does a chiropodist treat ingrown toenails?

Yes, the chiropodist is an expert in the treatment of ingrown toenails. Appropriate care can provide rapid relief and avoid the need for more invasive surgery.

Can a chiropodist make orthopaedic insoles?

Yes, a chiropodist can make made-to-measure orthopaedic insoles. They are designed after a full chiropody assessment to correct walking problems or relieve joint pain.
