Ankle instability, Sprain

Ankle instability, Sprain

Ankle instability is a common complaint, often caused by repeated sprains or ligament weakness (hyperlaxity).

They are characterised by a sensation of the ankle ‘letting go’ or ‘twisting’ easily, leading to a lack of stability and reduced proprioception when walking or playing sports.

OUR ADVICE

Re-educate and strengthen the ankle's stabilising muscles to compensate for ligament laxity, and carry out a podological assessment to evaluate the need to wear orthopaedic insoles.
